Blepharitis
Blepharitis
is a chronic and annoying inflammation of the eyelid
margins. It is not serious and will not affect the sight
but many people suffer from it intermittently. It cannot
be cured but it can be controlled with proper cleaning
of the eyelids and medications as needed.

Procedure
for cleaning:
1.
Dilute 1/2 tsp of salt in 1/4 cup of warm water.
2. Soak a washcloth in the diluted salt water and then
apply the washcloth to the eyelid as a compress for
approximately 10 minutes. Use a cotton ball soaked in
the warm salt water to scrub the eyelid after the compress
has been applied.
3. If ointment has been prescribed, warm the tube of
ointment under a hot water tap and then squeeze a small
bead of the ointment onto a fresh Q-tip. Work this into
the same area of the eyelid margin and leave in place
overnight.

You
may require nightly treatments in this fashion or perhaps
only a few nights in a row every few weeks, or months.
In severe cases, some patients must this in the mornings
as well, upon awakening.
